progress meter
April 20th, 2005 | by prick |I may have written about this before, but because I am currently experiencing what I am going to write about, I figured it was an opportune time to bring up back up.
As a network engineer for a computer support company, I find myself all over Southern California doing a wide variety of tasks. The common denominator of these tasks is the progress meter. You know, when you install or update software - or even when you completely reinstall Windows on a computer - it’s the little bar that fills up as the progress of the install completes. I find myself sitting in front of computers, staring at this little green or blue bar as it fills up. It gives me time to reflect on things in my life, or in this case, allows me time to post about meaningless crap.
The best part about the progress meter… I get paid to stare at it. Otherwise, I might be tempted to toss myself out the window.
