department of waiting in line
February 22nd, 2005 | by prick |I guess this might qualify as a rant, but I’m not angry. I just got back from the DMV, where I was renewing my driver’s license. The last time I was there for anything was when I originally got my license, so I hadn’t seen the changes they’ve made to the place. The new take-a-number-and-wait-in-line system they have was pretty nice. You get a number that is associated with a letter and you wait.
So, I got my number and I waited. Since I hadn’t gotten anything in the mail about my license expiring, I had no idea what to expect from the DMV. I was scared that I would have to take the test again because I had waited so long to come in. My number was called, the woman took my form, entered it in the computer and asked me for $25.
D’oh! I only had $20 in my wallet. She told me I would have to come back. So, I took off to the bank, got my money and want back. The woman had given me an appointment number, so I was sent ahead of the non-appointment people. This meant about a 15 minute wait, which wasn’t too bad.
So, the grand finale to this story is that I got my interim license and a new picture taken for my new card. I should be getting it in the mail in a few weeks. Yay! I’m legal again!
